Outdoor Learning

We offer our children continuous provision and access to outdoor learning in all weather consisting of three areas which include an outdoor classroom, a gross motor/physical development area and a large open construction space.

Research shows being outdoors and outdoor learning has a positive impact on children's sense of well-being and development. Our outdoor environment offers a large learning area and therefore is particularly important to those children who learn best through active movement.

Young children learn predominately through their sensory and physical movements which support brain development. Our approach to outdoor learning considers experiences alongside equipment and places children at the centre of the provision being made.

The importance of outside play in early years cannot be underestimated and below are some of the many benefits it offers to our children:

  • Encourages an active lifestyle
  • Appreciation of Nature and the Environment
  • Develops Social and Speech/Language Skills
  • Encourage Independence
  • Understanding Risk
