Phonics

In Year One we follow the 'Letters and Sounds' programme for phonics teaching. In daily phonics sessions your child will review sounds they have already learnt, learn new sounds, practise blending and segmenting sounds for reading and writing and apply these skills in a variety of fun contexts. By the end of Year One children will be able to blend and segment sounds in order to read and write a range of real and not real (alien) words fluently and confidently.
