Information
Please ensure that ALL school uniform is clearly labelled including lunchboxes and water bottles. The children are responsible for their own belongings during the school day.
Remember to let your child's class teacher know if your child is going home with another parent, or will be collected by someone different. Alternatively, ring or email the school office who will inform your child's class teacher.
Reading books and homework
Reading books should be read three times a week at home. This helps to improve their decoding skills, fluency and understanding of the text being read. Please remember to make a note in your child's reading diary, every time they read. Reading books will be changed every Thursday.
Homework is handed out on Fridays. This includes some spelling practice of harder to read and spell words (HRS words), previously known as common exception words, and handwriting practice to improve automaticity. If a child is able to form letters of the correct size and orientation automatically, this drastically reduces their cognitive load when writing, freeing up their brain to focus on the content. If they also have the harder to read and spell words secured, this frees up even more brain space!
For every piece of homework handed in, the class earns a marble in the jar towards their end of week reward! It's a team effort!
Every child also has a Numbots log in which was shared in July. This can be accessed at any time by the children and is an excellent place to practice the foundations of mathematics - counting, subitising, place value and simple addition and subtraction. If you need reminding of your child's Numbots details, please ask their class teacher or pop a message onto Tapestry.
